Eliminating Wrinkles

Products like Jeuveau®, Botox®, and Dysport® are FDA-approved treatments that that help to smooth fine wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes.

This is the number one noninvasive aesthetic medical procedure performed in the United States because they provide a quick and effective treatment that requires zero downtime. Neurotoxins temporarily prevents wrinkles by relaxing the muscle movements causing them. They do not add volume.

What are derma fillers?

Fillers can help reverse the signs of aging, restore lost volume, plump lips and other body areas, and treat acne scars. Depending on the type of filler, a treatment will between three months and two years. Options include:

  • Lip Fillers to plump and enhance the shape of lips
  • Nose fillers to address bumps on the bridge of the nose. We can also use them to correct the tip of the nose. They offer many of the benefits of a nose job, without surgery.
  • Under Eye Fillers to remedy the dark or hollow area under eyes that cause a perpetually tired or grumpy look.
  • Cheek Fillers to add volume to provide a more defined appearance. Cheek fillers can also remedy wrinkles and the loss of fat in the cheeks due to age, medications, or illness.
  • Jaw Fillers to provide an attractive, defined jawline.
  • Chin Fillers to improve the facial profile
  • Liquid Facelift to fill in wrinkles or provide correction in multiple areas. Typically, this involves a combination of fillers and Botox to achieve many of the benefits of a facelift without undergoing surgery.
  • Hand Fillers to make hands look younger. Hands, like the face, often lose fat volume due to aging which can expose tendons and veins. Dermal fillers can restore a more youthful look.

Types of Dermal Fillers?

Our expert injectors use specific types of dermal fillers to optimize results on each area of your face.

The most common fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that is found naturally in the body. This helps make hyaluronic acid fillers a very safe FDA-approved option. The fact that they can be dissolved if you change your mind makes hyaluronic acid fillers a low-risk procedure.

Revanesse®, Restylane®, and Juvederm® are examples of hyaluronic acid fillers our expert use. They typically last from three months to two years depending on the specific filler and how your body responds to it.

Another type of filler we use is made of poly-L-lactic acid.

This type of filler is often preferred for treating overall facial thinning. The most common example of a poly-L-lactic acid filler is Sculptra® which lasts around two years. A big benefit of Sculptra® is that it actively promotes collagen production. With continued treatment, typically the collagen in the treated area will increase to naturally fill your using your body’s own collagen.

Each type of filler is optimized for specific applications. Sculptra® for instance is used on the face, although typically not under the eyes or in the lips. Sculptra® can add volume to any part of the body so we also use it to make hands look younger and as a way to promote volume in the buttocks for a non-surgical Brazilian butt lift. Ask us if you have any questions.

Radiesse® is another semi-permanent option that like Sculptra® stimulates collagen production. The primary ingredient in Radiesse® is calcium hydroxylapatite, which provides more of the look and feel of bone. It is ideal where a firm filler is needed. We primarily use it in the lower face to improve wrinkles and hollowed areas that make the face look gaunt or tired. Because it provides a firmer feel we don’t use Radiesse® in the lips. Typically, the natural collagen Radiesse® stimulates your body to produce will last for a year or two.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

This depends on the type of filler and how your body responds to the filler. Thicker fillers like Sculptra® and Radiesse® typically last longer, one to two years for many people. Hyaluronic Acid based fillers like Versa® or Juvederm® typically last four to six months but can be dissolved if you do not like the desired effect. This is why many people like to start with a Hyaluronic Acid filler before they use something more permanent in that area.

Where we put the filler also makes a difference. In places with a lot of muscle activity (like the lips) fillers typically don’t last as long as facial areas where there is little movement. Metabolism is another factor. People with high metabolisms tend to break down the filler faster. The best way to make your results last is a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Are Dermal Fillers Reversible?

We can reverse most fillers if you want changes later. Fillers made with hyaluronic acid are the easiest to dissolve with hyaluronidase injections. With poly-L-lactic based fillers like Sculptra®, we have things we can do to promote quicker absorption. Most of the time when people want a reversal it is due to working with an injector who lacked the technical or artistic skill to produce a natural look. Achieving a beautiful result with Neurotoxins and Fillers requires technical skill and skilled artistry. This is why Dr. Jones and Dr. Kent insist upon such high standards of training and experience.

What Can I Do To Make My Filler Last Longer?

How long your filler lasts is dependent upon the type of filler, your metabolism, and how you take care of yourself. You can’t do much about the first two factors, but you can help extend the longevity of your filler by:

  • Following your CosmoloGO injector’s aftercare instructions
  • Not massaging the treated areas too heavily, especially in the first few weeks following your treatment
  • Exercising regularly.
  • Eating a healthy diet
  • Wearing sunscreen
  • Taking care of your skin

Is It Painful?

People vary widely in terms of their experience with Neurotoxins and Fillers. They can result in mild discomfort and if you are worried about this we have many options. Topical anesthetics can make a big difference. Some fillers include lidocaine as an ingredient to minimize discomfort during treatment for those who are sensitive.
